Surrounded by the ancient walls of Jerusalem, the magnificent third Temple rises. Jerusalem of Gold – Yerushalayim Shel Zahav – shines eternally in this, Ellen Miller Braun’s, intricate, yet bold, Jewish star. The Old City of Jerusalem is famous for its ancient fortified walls and magnificent gateways into the city, created here with extraordinary patience by Ellen
The motif of the Magen David – Jewish star – creates a resplendent continuous filigree weave of Jewish stars. The micro calligraphy text itself is cut into these delicate thin lines:
1. Deuteronomy 5:1 – 19; 29-30: Deuteronomy 6:1 -13:
Included in these inscribed verses are the Ten Commandments; Shema Yisrael – Hear O Israel, the L-rd is Our G-d the L-rd is One; Also inscribed are verses depicting the Land – Eretz Zavat Chalav U’dvash – the Land flowing with milk and honey.
2. Isaiah 52;1-10:
“Awake, awake, put on your strength Zion… Your beautiful garments Jerusalem… Break forth into joy… for the L-rd has comforted His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem. The L-rd has made bare His Holy Arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our G-d.”
3. Psalms 122: “…Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; those who love You shall prosper; Peace be within your walls and prosperity within your palaces. For the sake of my brothers and companions, I will now say – Peace be within you. For the sake of the House of the L-rd our G-d, I will seek your good.”
4. Zaccaraih 4:1-7:
“…there is a Menorah made entirely of gold… Seven lamps are on its top. And two olive trees are near it…”
Isaiah 66:1 and 23:” …The heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool; What house could you build for me… And it shall be that from New Moon to New Moon and from Shabbat to Shabbat all flesh shall come to bow down before Me…”

The beautiful Calligraphy Bible Art pictures are created from Hebrew words and letters. The Hebrew words are taken from the Bible and create a beautiful picture while inspiring at the same time. Ellen creates her Bible Art using very small letters which are called micro calligraphy. The finished product is a beautiful picture created from these small letters. Micrography is another term used for this kind of art. Ellen chose the term micro calligraphy for her bible art to express the exact meaning of her work: tiny letters and words blending together to create the designs and figures on her paper. Ellen creates her micro calligraphy art by using her fine tipped calligraphy pen and dips it into a spectrum of water color paints. The secret to micro calligraphy art is patience. The pictures take anywhere from one month to a year, to create each original piece.
